Amazon Black Friday 2026 Inventory Deadlines: Your Countdown

9 min read

Calendar graphic marking October 28, 2026 as the last FBA arrival date for Amazon Black Friday and Cyber Monday

When is the last day to send inventory to Amazon for Black Friday 2026?

Inventory must arrive by October 28, 2026 for FBA with Amazon-optimized splits, October 21 with minimal splits, and October 14 for AWD. These are arrival dates, not ship dates. Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday deal submissions close October 20, and stock that misses its date can lose the Prime badge.

Key takeaways

  • Amazon's Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026 arrival deadlines are October 14 for AWD, October 21 for FBA minimal splits and October 28 for FBA optimized splits.
  • The cutoffs are arrival dates, so work backwards using your real carrier transit time plus a week for receiving.
  • Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday deal submissions close on October 20, before either FBA deadline.
  • Optimized splits carry no inbound placement fee and a later deadline, while minimal splits can cost roughly $1.50 to $6.50 per unit.
  • Use Prime Big Deal Days sell-through on October 6 to 7 to decide which ASINs need a top-up before the FBA cutoffs.

The last day for inventory to arrive at Amazon for Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026 is October 28 if you ship FBA with Amazon-optimized splits, October 21 if you ship with minimal splits, and October 14 for AWD. Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday deal submissions close on October 20, and stock that misses its arrival date can lose the Prime badge during the event.

Those dates come from Amazon’s holiday announcement, as reported by EcomCrew and PPC Land in July. As of October 3, we have not seen any change to them. Confirm them in Seller Central before you book freight, because Amazon can and does adjust holiday timelines.

Below is the countdown, what each date means, and what we would do this week depending on how you fulfill orders.

What are the Black Friday 2026 deadlines, in order?

Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday on November 30. Everything that matters for those two days happens in October.

October 6 to 7Prime Big Deal DaysEveryone with deals or ads live

November 27Black FridayEveryone
November 30Cyber MondayEveryone

Two things in that table catch sellers out every year.

First, these are arrival dates, not ship dates. PPC Land put it plainly: Prime eligibility “is conferred once Amazon has physically received, scanned, verified and system-acknowledged the units,” not when a truck leaves your warehouse. If your carrier needs ten days and the dock needs a few more to receive, October 28 means shipping in the middle of the month at the latest.

Second, the deal deadline (October 20) lands before both FBA deadlines. You will be committing to a deal before you know for certain your stock has landed. Plan the inventory first and the deal second.

Why are there two different FBA deadlines?

Amazon offers two ways to split an inbound shipment. With Amazon-optimized splits, you send boxes to several fulfillment centers chosen by Amazon. With minimal splits, you send to fewer locations, and Amazon does the redistribution itself.

According to AMZ Prep’s September summary, optimized placement carries no inbound placement fee, while minimal distribution runs roughly $1.50 to $6.50 per unit depending on size and weight. The trade-off for the convenience of fewer destinations is a fee and a deadline one week earlier, because Amazon needs that extra week to move your units around the network.

For most of the brands we work with, optimized splits win on both counts in Q4: no placement fee and an extra seven days. The exception is a seller whose freight forwarder charges heavily for multiple destinations, or whose shipments are small enough that splitting them makes no sense. Run the numbers on your own inbound plan; do not assume.

What happens if you miss the cutoff?

Amazon will not refuse inventory that arrives late. What you risk is the Prime badge during the event window. Both EcomCrew and beBOLD report the same consequence: units that are not received by the cutoff can lose Prime eligibility for the event.

Losing Prime in Black Friday week is expensive in two ways. Shoppers filter for it, so conversion drops. And a non-Prime offer competes worse for the Featured Offer, so even shoppers who find you may buy from someone else.

Amazon has also said that fulfillment center teams “concentrate on receiving holiday shipments during September and October, then shift to processing customer orders in November and December.” Read that as a warning. Receiving slows down in November, and inventory that arrives in that month may sit at the dock longer than you expect. We cover what that means for your limits in our post on FBA capacity limits in Q4 2026.

What should you do this week, by fulfillment type?

Today is October 3. Here is the sequence we are running with clients, split by how you fulfill orders.

If you ship FBA

  1. Pull your days of supply by ASIN. Use sales from the last 30 days, then add your expected lift for Black Friday week. Anything under eight weeks of cover by November 27 needs a shipment now.
  2. Check your capacity limit before you build the shipment. Created shipments count against your limit as soon as you create them, even before they leave your warehouse. Delete any old drafts you will not send.
  3. Build with optimized splits unless you have a specific reason not to, and book carriers with your real transit time plus a buffer of at least a week for receiving.
  4. Confirm the shipment status daily from October 20. “Shipped” is not “received.” Escalate any shipment stuck in checked-in status for more than a few days.

If you use AWD

  1. Your deadline is October 14, which is eleven days away. If your AWD replenishment into FBA is automated, check that the auto-replenishment rules cover your top sellers at Black Friday volume, not September volume.
  2. Keep auto-replenishment on. EcomCrew reports that AWD sellers with auto-replenishment keep off-peak storage rates through October 31, even after FBA peak fees begin on October 15.

If you are merchant-fulfilled or on Seller Fulfilled Prime

  1. There is no Amazon inventory cutoff for you, because you hold your own stock. Your limits are your carriers’ holiday pickup schedules and your own warehouse labor. Check your delivery metrics in Seller Central now; peak volume is when on-time delivery slips. Our post on delivery speed as a ranking lever explains why that matters beyond the badge.

Everyone with a deal planned

  1. Submit by October 20. The $50 early-submission discount ended on September 5. Fees are $100 per promotion plus 1.5% of promotional sales, with the variable part capped at $5,000, per EcomCrew and PPC Land.
  2. Check your reference price before you submit. Since April 23, a List Price only shows a strikethrough if it is backed by real sales or another retailer’s recent price. If your listing has lost its strikethrough, read our explainer on Amazon’s strikethrough and List Price rules before you build the deal around a discount shoppers will not see.

If you are already behind

If you are reading this on October 25 with stock still at the factory, the realistic options are narrower: pay for faster freight on your top two or three ASINs only, switch those to merchant-fulfilled for Black Friday week if you can meet Prime-level delivery yourself, and accept that slower movers will miss the event. Do not ship everything late and hope; late inventory that arrives in November competes for receiving capacity with everyone else’s late inventory.

If you want a second pair of eyes on your Q4 inbound plan, our account management team runs this countdown for clients every year, and a free audit will show you which ASINs are most at risk.

How do Q4 fees change the inventory math?

Sending more stock earlier is the safe call for Prime, but it costs more to store. Standard-size storage rises from $0.78 per cubic foot in January to September to $2.40 per cubic foot in October to December, according to AMZ Prep. Holiday peak fulfillment fees add an average of $0.32 per unit from October 15, and the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge introduced in April still applies on top.

That does not mean you should cut inventory to save storage. One stockout during Black Friday week costs far more than a month of peak storage on a fast seller. It does mean you should be selective. Send deep on the ASINs that will sell through by early January, and send lean on slow movers that will still be sitting there when the long-term storage clock keeps running.

We broke down all three costs, with a worked example on a $29.99 product, in Q4 2026 Amazon costs: peak fee, storage and fuel surcharge. If you are still deciding whether to run a Black Friday deal at all, start with our BFCM 2026 discount strategy post, which walks through the break-even math.

Why does Prime Big Deal Days matter for Black Friday?

Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 to 7, a week before the AWD deadline. Treat it as a dress rehearsal for November: how fast do your top ASINs sell through at deal prices, which campaigns run out of budget by noon, and which search terms convert. Our Prime Big Deal Days playbook covers what you can still change before the event and the numbers to pull the day after.

The sell-through data from those two days is the best forecast you will get for Black Friday. If a hero ASIN sells through faster than planned, you still have until October 21 or 28 to top it up. That is the real reason the October event matters for Q4 planning.

Frequently asked questions

Will Amazon reject inventory that arrives after the Black Friday cutoff?

No. Amazon will still receive late inventory, but units not received by the cutoff can lose Prime eligibility during the event window. That hurts conversion and your chances of holding the Featured Offer. Receiving also slows down in November, when Amazon says fulfillment centers shift to processing customer orders, so late stock may sit at the dock longer than usual.

Is there a Black Friday inventory deadline for FBM sellers?

No. The cutoffs cover AWD and FBA only, because merchant-fulfilled sellers hold their own stock. Your limits are your carriers' holiday pickup schedules and your own warehouse labor. If you are on Seller Fulfilled Prime, check your delivery metrics in Seller Central now, because peak volume is when on-time delivery tends to slip.

How much does it cost to submit a Black Friday deal on Amazon in 2026?

Fees are $100 per promotion plus 1.5% of promotional sales, with the variable part capped at $5,000, for Lightning Deals, Best Deals and Prime Exclusive Discounts, as of October 2026. The $50 early-submission discount ended on September 5. Submissions close October 20, so confirm the current fees in Seller Central before you submit.

When are Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2026?

Black Friday is November 27, 2026 and Cyber Monday is November 30, 2026. Amazon's inventory and deal deadlines for both fall in October: AWD arrival by October 14, deal submissions by October 20, and FBA arrival by October 21 or October 28 depending on how you split shipments.
